At the ripe old age of 26 my doctor told me that I was standing outside the diabetes house looking for my keys and if I didn’t change my diet, I’d soon go in. I already ate fairly healthfully, but relied heavily on carbs and sugars. Which I was no longer allowed to have.
On the first day of my new diet, I realized that low starch foods have fewer calories than what I normally ate, so I was hungry all day long.
On the second day, I realized that I never actually liked snow peas, I just liked the ranch dressing I dipped them in.
On the third day I realized I had no idea what I was doing. And so I started this blog.
Here I document my efforts to learn new ways to cook and eat and just look at food in general. Not every meal will be a success, but this is a journey. A journey to nowhere.
This isn’t about losing weight, so recipes will not necessarily be lowfat or lowcal. No particular effort will be paid to making things that are filled with vitamins and antioxidants. I’m not trying to go organic or gluten free. And while all those things will likely enter into one recipe or another, the point here is low sugar. But feel free to take everything and make it fit what you’re trying to do with your diet! I’d love to hear how it goes.
